How to Utilize a Company Blog to Generate New Leads
Tuesday, September 20, 2011 by Michelle Hartley
To some companies, having a blog seems pointless. What a
lot of business owners don't understand is that your company
blog is a great way to increase your online presence and the best
part is - it is completely controlled by you. By increasing your
digital presence and utilizing your blog wisely, you can increase
your pool of leads.
While actually having a blog is the first step in this process,
you have to go a little further to ensure your visibility and leads
will increase.
Find a Solid Headline for Every Blog
In order for potential customers to find your blog is important
to make the title something useful to them. Think about what your
clients might search concerning your business. Topics regarding
what is going on in your specific field or industry and how it will
affect your clients are always a good way to go. For instance, if
you're a technology company like Switchfast, write a post about how
outsourcing IT support can actually save your company money and
present the facts to prove it. If you are a pool
cleaning/renovation company, write a blog about pool safety.
Engage your Customer, Don't Sell to Them
While a blog might seem like a good place to sell your business,
in reality - it's not. A blog is a place to relay important,
fascinating, puzzling or problem-solving information. You have an
entire website connected to your blog where you can sell, sell,
sell. Save your blog for something that can spark interest in the
reader which will hopefully get them into the heart of your
website. According to Entrepreneur.com's article 10 Ways to Turn Your Blog into a Lead-Generation
Machine, the frequently asked questions portion of your website
is a good place to look for potential blog topics.
Use the Blog to the Fullest
Link your blog to all of your social media outlets. Repost your
interesting blogs to your Facebook so hopefully more people will
see the post. Utilize the social sharing icons that are offered by
Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn. Doing so encourages your readers
to share your blog with their friends and colleagues.
Allow your viewers to subscribe to your blog via an RSS feed.
Each time you post a new blog your RSS subscribers will be
notified. Writing blogs is a great way to draw organic linking,
which can lead to higher search engine placement. Talk about your
blog in your e-mail newsletters or in your marketing collateral.
Don't rest on search engine placement alone, go the extra step to
make sure your current clients know about your blog. If you feel
like your short on topic ideas, utilize your blog to update the
public on topics concerning your company. For instance, post blogs
about your recent anniversary, new departments, a new office, or
big events happening in your city.
Your blog is another way to connect and reach your target
audience. Just like every other avenue you use, it will not create
traffic or new clients overnight and it will certainly not be your
only marketing channel. Use your blog to aid in spreading your
message and brand.
Until next time -
