Small Businesses Get 55% More Traffic With a Blog
Monday, August 09, 2010 by Bryan Anderson
Many small businesses have first-hand experience in building a
successful, productive blog for their respective fan base, but
others have doubted the effectiveness of such an execution. The
problem for most small business owners is finding legitimate
statistics on the positive effect of blogging.
Over at Hubspot.com, author Rick Burnes wondered the same thing
and set out to get some definitive answers. He wanted to know how
good blogging is for small business.
To accomplish this, he examined 1,531 HubSpot customers,
primarily small and medium sized businesses, with 795 blogging and
736 without a blog.
Overall, the data produced three key stats:
Blogging companies averaged 55% more website
visitors. Web traffic is important in converting leads to
sales and contributes to the general popularity of your website. A
blog allows you to focus on certain keywords and topics that will
attract your target audience and build your keyword strengths for
search engines.
Blogging companies had 97% more inbound links.
Creating a blog means creating more unique content for your
company, an opportunity that some small businesses struggle with.
With more content means the growth of inbound links, the key to
ranking high and getting found among search engines.
Blogging companies had 434% more indexed pages.
The quality of your content will attract your targeted users while
the consistent creation of content will benefit your chances of
being found. Building quality and quantity is the key to
establishing a successful blog - blog well, blog often.
These statistics should get small business owners excited -
blogging is another marketing opportunity that is generally cost
effective and easily manageable. Online business will only get more
difficult as more small businesses plan on establishing some type
of presence to lure the online community. A blog can be created for
many reasons including company updates, business insights, or news
around the industry. Whatever the reason, at least give blogging a
chance and make it your own!
HubSpot.com offers its five steps to starting a successful business
blog:
1) Pick a blogging service
2) Host your blog on your main site
3) Consider your ideal site visitors
4) Brainstorm keywords related to your business
5) Write your first blog post
Until next time -
