How Professional Online Networking Adds to the Value of Your Small Business
Friday, July 09, 2010 by Bryan Anderson
While most college students are learning that "networking" is an
important part of today's economic upbringing, business
professionals know the importance of setting a prime example when
meeting with a potential client or consumer. These individuals are
capable of reading expressions, deciphering body language, and
hearing vocal undertones. While many sales people constantly tweak
and develop the ability to move a stranger from an onlooker to a
buyer, several people lack the finesse, courage, or knowledge.
With the explosion of online social media, networking is a click
away instead of a handshake. Communication has expanded as a whole
and certain lines have been blurred between "professional" and
"social" networking executions. When it comes to any professional
encounter, you are representing your small business while leaving
an impression, whether it's lasting or temporary. Here are few
points to remember when engaging in professional communications,
both offline and online:
The oldest marketing trick in the book - just get out
there. Business networking events, seminars, and webinars
are created for like-minded individuals to share ideas and listen
to others. On a very human level, we engage in communication to be
inspired, informed, or involved. When it comes to business, going
to a 5 person or 50 people networking opportunity is critical in
marketing your company's mission statement. Online works similarly,
in that participating in conversations and discussions among
different platforms guarantees a top of mind for a selection of
your audience.
Accepting and experiencing the roles of follower and
leader. There will be plenty of opportunities to teach
others what you know and what your business has taught you.
Undoubtedly, as your business grows, your clients or consumers will
embrace your product and provide a level of trust between brand and
user. For example, social media can be used to collect all your
consumers in one place. A small business learns best from the
experience of fellow small business owners - don't be afraid to
show your consumers that your small business is always learning and
growing as well.
Giving your company a personality is as easy as knowing
your manners. It's the little things that make
professional networking easy to master but apparently hard to
follow. From a handshake to a hand written thank you letter,
personal touches on communication methods can add an aspect to
networking that far few people utilize. When it comes to
professional online networking, don't leave any emails hanging and
don't forget to give appreciation and thanks where it's due.
A professional connection is strong, a personal one is
stronger. Establishing professional networks is critical
in building a marketing venue for your small business service or
small business product. In many instances, small businesses start
from a personal desire to succeed and grow - not just as an
entrepreneur, but as a human being. You need dedication and passion
to run a small business - and the rewards from executing help feed
these two.
Until Next Time -
