Small Businesses Benefit from Helpful Agencies
Tuesday, May 18, 2010 by Bryan Anderson
The view from the bottom can be quite intimidating for some
small business startups. With a goal and a passion, some companies
start without the necessary resources. This does not have to be the
case, as there are plenty of informative and educational assistance
coming from urban and regional agencies.
In an article over at Examiner.com, LaShon Anthony
talks about the benefits that helpful agencies provide for small
businesses around the Chicagoland area. She explains that "many
individuals who need assistance are not aware of where to go for
help."
While plenty of businesses resort to online discussion and
conversation, there are ample opportunities and wealth of
information provided directly from organizations. Specific programs
can help you understand how to rise above financial troubles,
mediate internal conflicts, or set efficient agendas.
Even federal agencies provide a great deal of resources. The
U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) held an
event in Portland, Maine known as New England Business Economic
Development Conference. This free conference included workshops, information
tables, and one-on-one networking meetings for small, women-owned,
veteran-owned, and disadvantaged businesses.
This article on HUD's website states that "the federal
government will spend in excess of $230 billion in goods and
service this year," and since late 2001, "has awarded 52 percent of
it allotted contracts to small businesses."
Could you be taking advantage of agency-provided assistance?
Check out LaShon's article for several links to programs
that cater to small business advancement.
