Build a Strong Brand alongside a Booming Business
Tuesday, February 09, 2010 by Matt Hymel
It has become quite apparent that the power of social networks
is immense - so much so that quantifying it has become an epic
landmark for marketing companies looking to hone in on
consumer targets. But when small businesses get caught up in their
day-to-day work, it's easy to forget that their brand can take on a
life of its own within a social media circle.
The average consumer (and business owner) has multiple platforms
to "speak" - both on a personal level and a professional level and
there is plenty of value (and hard work) in taking responsibility
for your brand's online presence.
In a post by Ross over at crowdspring.com, he discusses four
reasons why it's particularly important to have a strong brand
presence online:
- Strong brands promote word of mouth
- Your brand needs to define expectations, communicate emotional
response
- Your brand is an ecosystem - vendors, customers, potential
customers, fans, and critics all contribute to a brand's build.
Feed your ecosystem
- Strong brands withstand criticism
He also goes on to say that there are thousands of social
networks and it is impossible to monitor all the activity regarding
your brand. People WILL talk about your brand on a platform
of their choosing and this is why the product or business that you
provide will ultimately lay a foundation for the way social
networks communicate your brand's emotional response.
