On the Right Track: IE 8 World’s Most-Used Browser
Thursday, February 04, 2010 by Administrator
With all the security risks and issues that Microsoft is
dealing with in regards to Internet Explorer 6, it's good to see
they have something to cheer about.
Net Applications released their browser market share report for
January, showing IE 8 has taken a 27.9% usage share on Windows and
a 25.6% market share across all OS's. On Window's blog site
windowsteamblog.com, a post reads:
"We launched just less than a year ago, so it's both humbling
and thrilling to see so many people choose our product so quickly -
making it the most popular browser of choice worldwide. There are
many reasons people choose which browser to use. Most people want
to know and trust the company behind their browser. And people are
looking a browser that protects them - and their privacy
online."
The post also goes on to explain that criminal activity is a
serious threat in today's digital community, and with the Phishing
Filter introduced with IE 7 (and now improved in IE 8), the browser
brand has blocked a total of over 125 million phishing sites.
Towards the end, the blog also "supports this recommendation to
move of IE 6," claiming that "IE 8 brings benefits for customers
and developers alike."
Hit the link for the post as well as a link to Net Applications' research.
