Switchfast Blog: The Future of IT
Breaking Through the Condescending IT Image
Wednesday, February 03, 2010 by Matt Hymel
Ask any well-established businessman about his long road to
success and I'll bet he has a few IT horror stories under his
belt.
The industry of IT is fluctuating with the birth of new
technology and the need for simpler service. The consumer has taken
advantage of software options and upgraded hardware, while
businesses are forced to remain in idle.
In an article written by Thomas Wailgum on CIO.com, a video
portrays the public's lack of terminology when it comes to IT
services. Phrases like "data warehouse," "OLAP or ETL tools," and
"business intelligence tools" go right over every interviewee's
head.
With this said, we are at a merging time period: the duties of
IT personnel is converging with consumer interests.
Technology is driving not only consumer enthusiasm but basic
technology knowledge.
Although the common business individual feels no pressure to
learn the nuts and bolts of the industry (similar to the average
consumer not knowing exactly how a car works besides key in, gas
pedal, and steer), consumer technologies have began to teach and
infiltrate the business workplace. There are no questions of
technology experience - the common person interacts with a form of
basic or advanced software and hardware on a daily basis.
It is our job, as an IT company, to provide service on a
business-professional level while also understanding and respecting
the knowledge that businesses possess. Not only does Switchfast
pride itself on IT expertise, but also the amount of effort we
commit to effectively communicating with our clients on a level
with which they are comfortable. We believe that effective
communication is essential to fostering a positive business
relationship.
Enterprise IT will always provide businesses with professional
support but in times of emerging technologies and changing business
structures, you'll need a company that listens and communicates in
a way that respects your experience and knowledge -- a partner in
business.
