Switchfast Blog: The Future of IT
Would It Benefit Your CIO to Blog?
Tuesday, February 02, 2010 by Matt Hymel
The amount of knowledge within any given industry is plentiful,
and of all people within a company who would know more about the
operations than the CIO? The accumulation of specific experience
makes one person quite valuable, not only to their own company but
to the advances of one's industry.
There are plenty of reasons for any given consumer to blog -
personal, therapeutic, recreational - but when it comes to a
business structure, would it be smart to have your CIO monitor and
publish their own blog?
On the one hand, your CIO is very busy, constantly updating,
reviewing, and presenting your company with valuable
information. In many instances, a CIO wouldn't have the time
or ability to blog.
With that said, a CIO with a strong passion for written
communication and a willing audience should not be afraid to give
blogging a shot.
A blog can be very time-consuming, detail-oriented, and
content-craving, but each can be personalized based on your
allotted company and personal time.
In an advice article posted on CIO.com, the author recommends
these three guidelines:
1. Feel confident in writing and update weekly
2. It needs to help the organization - but not at the risk of
personal embarrassment
3. Market your blog through facebook, tweets, or any other
means

blogs setup.
