Microhoo is Official, but Don’t Expect Changes Quickly
Friday, February 19, 2010 by Michael Holley
After a famously drawn-out negotiation process, the massive
search agreement between Microsoft and Yahoo that was completed
nearly seven months ago is now officially underway. However, the
organizational processes that complete the change will take time as
well, so don't expect any major shift in your Yahoo experience any
time soon.
In fact, many Yahoo users may be hard pressed to notice any
changes at all, even when the operations merge is complete. Yahoo
will still control its interface, its advertising, and, in some
cases, how it decides to add extra information to the search
results. The only change, from a user perspective, will be that the
search results themselves will be calculated by Microsoft and will
thus be identical to the results one would receive using Bing.
In theory, the quality of search results from both Bing and
Yahoo should improve, as Microsoft stands to benefit significantly
from access to Yahoo's search algorithms and the massive amount of
usage data Yahoo has collected over the years. To the user, these
changes will seem slight and gradual, but to the search industry,
Microsoft has again positioned itself to be more competitive with
Google. Only time will tell if it will be enough to supplant the
previously undisputed leader from its top position.

put together a great FAQ that can be found here.
