eMarketer: SMBs Prefer Digital Media Over Traditional Media

Wednesday, September 09, 2009 by Michael Holley

According to a study by the Kelsey Group and ConStat, 77% of SMBs purchased online advertising in the month of August 2009, whereas just 69% purchased traditional advertising. This marks the first time that online ad penetration has surpassed traditional ad penetration, and has changed from 73% online and 74% traditional a year ago.

You can see the original article, complete with charts and graphs, here.

This is just further evidence that online is the future of marketing to consumers and businesses alike. The best part is that, right now, online advertising is still generally significantly cheaper than traditional advertising. You can bet, however, that it won't stay that way forever. So if you haven't jumped on the bandwagon, whether through SEO, PPC, AdSense, online press releases, social media, or elsewhere, you really are missing out, and it could cost you significantly in the long run.

Best,

Michael Holley
