Microsoft to release security patches for DirectX/ActiveX on Tuesday (7/14)

Friday, July 10, 2009 by Michael Holley

In reaction to the quickly growing concern over a recent announcement of an ActiveX vulnerability with IE6 and IE7 that could allow a hacker to remotely execute code on an infected computer, Microsoft is planning to release a series of security patches to alleviate the issue (and others involving DirectX) this Tuesday. Microsoft is offering a live webcast for those who have questions on Wednesday, July 15 at 11:00am PST.

So, be sure to download the update on Tuesday. In the meantime, note the temporary workaround that Microsoft posted earlier this week.

Let us know if you have any questions!

Best,

Michael Holley
