Instead of Sacrificing Your Assets, Streamline Them
Wednesday, April 15, 2009 by Administrator
Given the poor state of the economy, businesses everywhere are
searching for ways to reduce overhead expenses. In the process of
reducing overhead, however, businesses tend to cut valuable
resources, putting them in a more difficult position to maintain
profitability.
There is an alternative solution. Examining operational
processes often exposes costly inefficiencies that can be
eliminated, improved, or automated, translating into immediate
cost-savings and improved productivity. If you can save yourself
money by changing how something is done, you not only avoid cuts
that hurt your business, but actually improve your operations,
putting yourself in a better position to capitalize on the
opportunities when better times return.
An example: While working with one of our clients recently,
Switchfast discovered several outdated manual data entry processes
and systems that were unnecessarily slowing performance and
productivity. Switchfast contracted with the client to perform a
full analysis of the inefficient operations that existed. With
Switchfast's depth of technology experience, it was easy for us to
gather requirements and propose an effective solution. By creating
and organizing a central data repository, the proposed new system
will eliminate double entry and streamline the daily work of the
majority of the client's employees, significantly increasing worker
productivity. The client will now require drastically few hours to
perform the same amount of work, reducing their overhead expenses,
and allowing greater productivity.
So next time you find yourself in a situation where overhead
must be cut at all costs (knock on wood), look at your processes
before your assets. You may be surprised at how much technology can
help improve your situation.
Best,
Mike
