Setting up a VPN Connection
Click your Start button and right click
My Network Places. Choose
Properties on the menu.

Under Network Connections, click the Create a New
Connection link on the left.

In the New Connection Wizard, click Next.

Choose the Connect to the Network at My
Workplace option, and click Next.

Choose the Virtual Private Network connection
option, and click Next.

Enter the name of the VPN connection in the white bar
and click Next. (Typically a good format is
'Company Name VPN'.)

If it asks you about connecting to a Public Network, select the
Do Not Dial the Initial Connection option, and
click Next. If you aren't, skip this step.

Enter the VPN server IP address in the white box, and
click Next.

Select the My Use Only option and click
Next.

Check the box Add a shortcut to this connection to my
desktop. Click Finish.

From the logon box that will open, click the
Properties button.

In the new window, choose the Networking tab,
select Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and click the
Properties button.

Next click the Advanced button.

Uncheck the Use default gateway on remote network
option. Click OK on the open windows to close and
accept the changes you made.

Now there should be a short cut on the desktop to the Company
Name VPN. Double click that and you will see the login prompt.
Enter your User Name and Password (the same one
you use to log into your computer), and click
Connect.

This will place you on the company network, and you will be able
to access Outlook email and server shares. Enjoy!
