Setting up a VPN Connection

Click your Start button and right click My Network Places. Choose Properties on the menu.

Under Network Connections, click the Create a New Connection link on the left.

In the New Connection Wizard, click Next.

Choose the Connect to the Network at My Workplace option, and click Next.

Choose the Virtual Private Network connection option, and click Next.

Enter the name of the VPN connection in the white bar and click Next. (Typically a good format is 'Company Name VPN'.)

If it asks you about connecting to a Public Network, select the Do Not Dial the Initial Connection option, and click Next. If you aren't, skip this step.

Enter the VPN server IP address in the white box, and click Next.

Select the My Use Only option and click Next.

Check the box Add a shortcut to this connection to my desktop. Click Finish.

From the logon box that will open, click the Properties button.

In the new window, choose the Networking tab, select Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and click the Properties button.

Next click the Advanced button.

Uncheck the Use default gateway on remote network option. Click OK on the open windows to close and accept the changes you made.

Now there should be a short cut on the desktop to the Company Name VPN. Double click that and you will see the login prompt. Enter your User Name and Password (the same one you use to log into your computer), and click Connect.

This will place you on the company network, and you will be able to access Outlook email and server shares. Enjoy!
