BlackBerry Internet Service (BIS) Setup Instructions

Make sure you have the BlackBerry user's BlackBerry Web Account. If none is available, make sure you obtain the following from the user:

  • Celphone Provider (ATT, Verizon, etc.)
  • Phone's PIN number (from the BB - Options > Status)
  • Last 4-Digits of the user's SSN

Call the provider's technical support so they can verify account information is correct.

Log on to the provider's website with the proper user's credentials.

Click on Set Up Account and add the user's email address and password. Press Next to create the unique email address.

Once done, you will return to the main BlackBerry screen with the newly created email address.

Click on Edit because we want to change the Email account name and Reply to from name@vzw.blackberry.net to name@domain.com. Then, click on Save and close the browser.

Log onto the Exchange Server and create a new Contact. Uncheck the option to Create an Exchange e-mail address and click Next.

Right-click the newly created Contact and select the option Exchange Tasks…

Follow the Wizard which will appear on-screen and press Next.

Select Establish E-mail Address and click Next

Click on Modify, select SMTP Address and press OK.

Type in the email address which was created on BlackBerry's website and click OK. Give the Exchange Server five to ten minutes to populate.

Open the user's account from Active Directory. Select the tab Exchange General and click on Delivery Options.

Press the button Modify and add the user name. Then, click OK twice to close out of both Windows.

Finally, log back in to the user's BlackBerry email account and select Service Books. Click the button Send Service Books.

After 20 minutes, emails should start to flow to the user's BlackBerry. If none start to populate, take out the battery of the BlackBerry and turn back on.
