Telecommunications Technician role supports the entrepreneurial
visions of our customers by making telecom and technology easy -
through unparalleled customer service, honest advice, and expert
troubleshooting of technical issues. Switchfast is a fun, casual

northwest of Wrigley field.
We are looking to hire a Telecommunications Technician that is
an experienced, resourceful, and personable leader that takes pride
in providing outstanding service. This is a great opportunity for a

Using documentation and standard operating procedures, a
Switchfast Telecommunications Technician is responsible for
implementation, repair, and maintenance of data, voice, and network
communications systems. In particular, this includes working
with ISPs for T1/PRI turn up, installation of VoIP phone systems
with SIP trunks, T1, or PRI connectivity, troubleshooting IP phones
and phone system issues (auto attendant routing, voicemail, etc.),
and processing adds/removes/changes for users in a phone
system.
The ideal candidate will also have experience with PoE switches,
Demarc extensions, low voltage cabling, and firewall configuration
for VoIP applications. Special consideration will be given to
experience with ShoreTel, Digium, and PolyCom. Please be prepared
to provide specific examples of your work in the aforementioned
areas. As this position involves travel within the Chicagoland
area, candidates must have use of a car on a daily basis (mileage
is reimbursed).
Candidates must possess the ability to interact with business
owners without the use of technical jargon. One must be able to
drop into an emergency situation, assess, plan and execute a
solution quickly and effectively. The opportunity to share

Education/Experience Required:
A 4-Year Degree in a related field is preferred; however this
requirement may be waived if the applicant has necessary relevant
experience.
